Ultramarathons in March
The first real race of spring.
March is when the trail calendar wakes up. Way Too Cool in California and Chuckanut in Washington are classic 50Ks: early-season, often wet, never as cool as the name promises. A March ultra is a promise you make to yourself in the fall and keep all winter.

Your training season. This is the winter build. December and January hold your base, February holds your peak. Expect snow detours, treadmill hills and at least one long run you'll tell stories about.

Short days mean less sun and often less vitamin D and sleep. Guard your sleep through the peak weeks; it does more for recovery than any gadget.
